Ever wanted to try portrait drawing or improve your current skills?
The workshop will focus on the fundamentals of portrait drawing from life. Pencil and charcoal will be used to explore the underlying structure of the head, spatial relationships, correct proportions, value changes, and the nuances of achieving character. This is a beginner to intermediate level workshop with tips to improve your portraits for the more experienced artist. 

Supply List participants will need:
9X12 or larger sketchbook or loose drawing paper 
Assortment of drawing pencils
Soft Charcoal
Kneaded Eraser
More experienced students may bring other materials as desired.

Instructor Bio: 
Jaylene Bengtson is a retired art educator whose teaching experience includes age levels from youth to adult. She now produces art full time from her home studio, working in a variety of mediums and subject areas from landscape and portrait to abstract and three dimensional works.  Having earned a Doctorate with a focus in therapeutic art, she also teaches students and adults to use art as an expressive language on their journey toward healing and sustained emotional wellness.
